Welcome

How we met

At first, we were both a little timid about explaining to our friends and family exactly how we met. Most people were pretty surprised to hear met over the Internet. The initial response from many was “That actually works?” In this day, with the schedules of two busy professionals, whose to say that there's a particular "playbook" on how to meet or fall in love. So, there it is.

We met on Match.com. I was a week away from canceling my membership when Brandi "winked" at me. (This is a way to show another member you're interested in them.) And the rest is history…

First Date

Day: May 17, 2005 • Place: Los Cucos

After exchanging a few emails and phone calls, it was time to meet in person. Since we both love Mexican food, it made perfect sense to meet at THE place near us, Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant in Tomball. Brandi showed up a touch early and I a touch late. It looked like something out of a Prince video when we met… doves flew, smoke machines went crazy, and the music was loud, although it was mostly the power Tejano from the eatery. After a night of 99 cent Margaritas, we decided to see each other again...and again...and again....

Proposal

Let's just say that our relationship has not exactly progressed by the playbook. We have indeed done things a little backwards. We discussed marriage and living arrangements, and then looked at engagement rings. We booked a wedding & reception site before there was even a formal marriage proposal. That all changed on November 19th, 2005.

While Brandi was busy making wedding arrangements with her parents, I went to pick up her engagement ring from Shannon Fine Jewelry and then made a mad dash down to League City to pick up the Precious Moments figurine I chose for her. I met them at Shirley Acres to check out the site for our wedding. The decision was made to reserve a date. Afterwards, we all had dinner at Barton Springs Restaurant, then met up with Brooke and Mike (Brandi’s sister and brother-in-law) back at Brandi’s place. Everyone just hung out while I started to plan my attack. After a long day, it was time for all to head home. Brandi, not expecting a thing, was called over to her bowl of ice cream in the kitchen. There, in the same exact spot where I first told her I loved her, sat her Precious Moments figurine called “With this ring I…”

Amazed and bewilder at what she saw, she turned to face me to find me scratching my chin with her diamond ring on my little finger. "Will you marry me?"
